Joe’s mission is to create analytics-driven strategies that deliver immediate value for healthcare organizations as they pursue longer-term business initiatives. Drawing on his background in applied sciences and mathematics, Joe’s approach involves thoughtfully examining complicated information and distilling it down into simplified, actionable recommendations. At ECG, Joe helps earn clients’ trust through his rigorous market assessment reports; practice consolidation action plans for M&A; and dynamic, analytical reimbursement models. Whether they are seeking guidance in their negotiations with health plans or assessing the reimbursement-related impact of their business development initiatives, clients value the combination of technical abilities and experience that makes Joe an indispensable partner in navigating complex managed care initiatives.
At ECG, Joe helps guide management services organizations through various strategic endeavors. Most recently, when tasked with leading a subspecialty group’s payer contract renegotiations, Joe and his team secured a projected $1.8 million in new revenue on behalf of the practice, which is being invested in a new patient care management program. Prior to joining ECG, Joe worked as the lead managed care analyst for a not-for-profit health system composed of four acute care hospitals and an employed multispecialty group of 350 physicians. Serving as a key liaison between the health system’s executive leadership team and those of the insurance companies, he developed financial models for commercial payer contracts comprising 65% of the system’s annual hospital fee-for-service net revenue.
